The ‘hill’ was as popular as ever, with a guest appearance from the Porsche 914 club at lunchtime. Veteran racer and JDC founder member Albert Powell was on hand to give out the prizes, alongside one his famous Mark 2s, and Norman Dewis was back for a very welcome return visit. It was an all-roadster affair in the concours, with Tony Johnson’s 4.2 Series 1 taking the Intermediate Class and Graham Blake winning the Premier Class with his lovely red 3.8. Kevin O’Sullivan’s black S3 came second, but also won the Endeavour Prize for the magnificent restoration work he has done on the car over the past three or four years. Top prize and Car of The Day went to Michael Birtwistle and son Matt, whose S3 won the Royal Brierley Trophy and the chance to compete at Champion of Champions at NEC in November.
