Petronel Payne - Secretary, Registrar & Overseas Liaison

Petronel was 'coerced' onto the committee in 1990 to organise the E-Type Jaguar 30th Anniversary Tour de France. She was then persuaded to take on the position of Register Secretary in 1992 - having been told the job only entailed taking 'Minutes at Meetings'. She soon discovered there was a lot more to it, and that it entailed whatever she 'let herself in for'! Since then the E-Type Register and the Jaguar Drivers' Club have become full time occupations, and since January 2000 she has taken on the 'Lost Registration Scheme' for the Club.

As Registrar she says that the E-Type Register Directory is as up to date as any document of this sort will ever be. It is an ongoing project and, at June 2009, we are approaching - fast - 6000 chassis numbers on the data base. We are working on how to produce the 2011 Directory in an acceptable and useful format. This will coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the launch of the E-Type in 1961.

If your E-Type is not registered with Petronel, she would be very grateful for any information - chassis, engine, gearbox, body and registration numbers, colour, year of build, name, address, phone and e-mail - either to the e-mail address at the bottom of the page, or by post to: Stable Yard, Longwood Estate, Owslebury, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 1LB, UK. The new Directory will not include engine numbers, gearbox numbers or comments/history - in line with normal practice. Names, addresses and telephone numbers will only be published where prior permission has been granted.

The Lost Registrations Scheme' is very important - and does not apply only to E-Types, but to ALL Jaguars. There will have been many who have tried, in vain, to register their 'barn finds/restoration projects' directly through the DVLA. This will meet with the proverbial 'brick wall' and applicants will be told that they HAVE to apply through the Club Representative. Petronel has been providing this service since 2000. Each case is different, but there are certain perameters to which we all need to adhere. For any further information on this subject please phone Petronel on 01962 777321. It is far easier to talk through the process telephonically, rather than by e-mail.

Petronel's E-Mail address is: petronel.payne©jdc-etype.org.uk or phone / fax [+44] (0) 1962 777321
