Greetings,
Steve Roush from Georgia, USA
I have had E-type 876753 for 11 years. Red S.1 OTS, tan interior and top. I love this car, as much after all these years as when I got it! It was a bit of a mess then...had 8 previous owners that I can track from the receipts the seller had saved... and it was an original California car that had never been in an accident and had never left the state until I bought it..which over here in the US means 'no rust', a rare and unusual thing for many e-types...
It missed being one of the original flat floor models by about 150 cars, as she was built in Feb, 1962.. and is in great shape for a driver. I hope I can go on a bit about her... I do nearly all the work myself as probably many of you do.... most recently rebuilt the tricky little push button door latch on the drivers side after it collapsed into the door (original push button mechanism had lasted for 45 years)!
I have upgraded to an alternator and negative ground/earth, and a 64 synchro Jaguar E-transmission, and have both the '62 seats and the '64 seats, interchangable depending on how far the trip is... Have collected over the years- an complete original tool roll, original manuals, both shop and spare parts, as well as the maintenance voucher book, original Shelly jack (not the cantilever), and 2 sets of wheels, tires- a set for show that are stainless with wide whitewall bias ply tires, and painted (silver) wires with radials for daily driving...
Also have put on a 'spin on' oil filter adapter (great fix to the original filter), 10" clutch, electric fan, had the exhaust manifolds reporcelained and have a modern radio.
Can be seen at:

There are 2 pages and 4 albums of pics.
Looking forward to chatting with other e type gear heads!
regards, SR

Steve

Hi Steve,
I just bought 876733 which needs to be restored completely. It was shipped to The Netherlands about ten years ago, left for that time in a shed until I bought it a few months ago. It was deliverd in 1962 to Curtis Davis architects in New Orleans. Mr. Curtis has died but I was in contact with Mr. Davis two weeks ago! Clearly he was surprised that he was contacted by some stranger from Holland about a car that he bought new 45 years ago!
All the best,
Vincent.

Vincent,
Thanks for the contacting e-mail!
That had to be an exciting call for Mr. Davis, non-the less.
I am guessing he may be in his 80's by now?

So our cars are only 20 apart back on the Coventry assembly line in February of 1962! The rate of build back then was about 10 cars per day, so they'd have been made by the same Jaguar employees on the same assembly line !!!
Mine is in very good shape for a car that has never had more than some cosmetic changes, paint, etc. (It is Imperial Maroon with a Tan interior.) I have brought it back to looking 'very original', as the 8 or 9 owners before me were not worried about authenticity and just drove it whenever they could get it running. I have had it 11 years. I have upgraded it to a 'Negative Earth' system, Alternator, late 1964 E-type transmission, spin-on oil filter adapter, and a better cooling fan. Also, have 10 inch clutch (whereas it had a 9 inch clutch plate in it when I got it..not sure which is original)..otherwise, it is pretty much as it was made... I recently replaced the incorrect 1964 seats with the real racing buckets that were supposed to be in it... so am feeling good about it.

This weekend there were 5 cars in the class and I was second. Was beat for 1st place by a 1963 that had just come back from the restorers at a cost of ~$70,000 US (just for the work, excluding the price of the car)!! I didn't feel badly, as my car is driven 2-3 times a month!

As for you #876733....How much 'complete restoration' do you mean? Actually stripped to the metal and then back up, or something less? Could you email me a couple of photos?? Oh, and be sure to enter your information in the XKEDATA.com website!!

please keep me posted, and if I can provide any information or sources for parts, etc from the US, let me know!!!

Regards, Steve
